People of faith promise to be the exception to the rule, but they’ve shown themselves to be out-of-touch.

Paul and Patty Durbin know what it takes to build a faith community that feels more like a family. Both of them grew up in homes of divorce, so they understand the pain of broken relationships. Letting tragedy be a teacher, they have depended completely on their faith in Jesus—learning from Him to place a high value on grace, truth, love, acceptance, reconciliation, and forgiveness.

Before answering a call from God to move to Boulder, Colorado, Paul and Patty led a large, vibrant international church in Beijing, China. Every week, several thousand people from 70+ nations and a wide variety of Christian church backgrounds would gather for worship. Despite the many inherent differences in such a diverse group—under Paul and Patty's capable leadership—this congregation enjoyed a special unity and a palpable love. A common comment from visitor's was, "this must be what Heaven feels like."

If you join us for one of our gatherings in Boulder, you'll notice Paul and Patty's knack for gathering a diverse group. We often have several cultures and nations represented under our roof—people from Asia, Africa, Europe, the America's, etc. A guest at one of our recent events was overheard to say, "In all my years in Boulder, I've never been around such a diverse group!" In other words, You may not always find someone just like you, but you'll discover an atmosphere where differences are appreciated and people are loved.

Married since 1993, they have four amazing kids who love one another, love Jesus, and love the city of Boulder. Paul and Patty have been engaged in full-time Christian ministry since 1991—giving them almost sixty years of combined ministry experience—serving in a variety of roles: youth pastors, worship leaders, police chaplaincy, college ministry, church leadership, ministry network leadership, and overseas ministry.

Speaking of feeling at home—that's exactly where we host most of our gatherings!

On Fridays, we gather at the Durbin home for a neighborhood dinner. This gathering has one agenda: enjoy a meal together as friends. There's no teaching or study—just casual conversation, laughs, and a chance to get to know one another. Join us, and bring a friend.

On Sundays, we gather again at the Durbin's for weekend worship. At this point, we're definitely a "house church." This means we're fairly small, casual, and do more of a Bible "discussion" than sit and listen to a sermon. And while the music is amazing, it's not a concert. We'd describe it as more acoustic, authentic, and participatory.

On Thursdays, we take to the streets and cover our city in prayer. If you love walking, prayer, and chatting with others as you do, come join us.

On other occasions, you'll find us "popping up" in Boulder giving away encouragement, prayer, Bibles, tracts, snacks, coffee, tea, etc. If you see our Belay table at a trailhead, the Boulder Farmer's Market or somewhere else, please come by and say "hi."
